Bulk transport refers to the form of organization engaged in the transport of bulk goods by sea. Different emphasis from the definition of tramp ship transport (or charter ship transport). The former is based on the form and quantity of the goods transported, while the latter is based on the different organization forms of the time and space of the ship transportation. The two also have similarities, bulk cargo transport is usually organized in the form of tramp ship transport.

1. According to the type of ship adopted [1]

The ship chosen according to the characteristics of the cargo determines the structure of the transport system. [1]

a. Dry bulk carrier transportation. It is divided into general dry bulk carriers, dual-purpose carriers, special dry bulk carriers and special bulk carriers. [1]

b. Liquid cargo ship transportation. It is divided into oil tankers, refined oil tankers, liquefied gas tankers and chemical tankers. [1]

2. By way of charter [1]

a. Voyage charter. Also known as voyage charter, a form of organizing cargo transport on a voyage basis. [1]

b. Contract of shipment. A variant of a voyage charter that does not specify a ship, gives a rough description of the amount of cargo to be shipped, and specifies a time and route to complete the task. The object of the contract is the goods. [1]

c. Time charter. Time charter, a form of organization in which the shipowner leases the ship to the charterer for a certain period of time with adequate crew for hire. [1]

d. Bareboat charter. A form of organization in which the owner leases a bareboat to the charterer for a longer period of time. [1]
